3.6 Installing, Uninstalling the attached software provided

The installation and uninstall procedure, and the outline of the attached software (plotter driver, and status monitor) are explained.

3.6.1 Contents of the attached software

(1) Plotter driver
When the OS of the computer connected to this plotter is Windows, the plotter driver can be used during printing.
This plotter is provided with a CD-ROM of plotter driver compatible with the following models.
•For Windows 95/98
•For NT4/2000/XP
The method of plotter driver installation varies depending on the method of the plotter connection with your PC.
Perform installation as shown in the following procedure.
•For network connection

•Refer to the following files contained on the CD-ROM for the latest information, such as various functions, the plotter driver and their limitations.

•The latest version of the plotter driver can be obtained from our company website.
(2) Status monitor
When the OS of the computer connected to the plotter is Windows, status monitor can be used. It is used to check the status of the plotter from your PC.
The status monitor has following functions.
•Residual ink management
•Media information display
•Plotter operation information display

•Do not take out or insert ink cartridge while the plotter is turned ON. If doing so, the ink residual quantity is not correctly detected and the printing cannot be done.

3.6.2 Installing the plotter driver (for network connection)

2Turn ON the power of the plotter.
3Turn ON your PC.
4Ensure that your PC boots up correctly, and insert the CD-ROM on which "Windows plotter driver" is written into the CD-ROM drive on your PC.
•Installer starts.
•Depending on your PC settings, the installer may not automatically start.
When the installation does not automatically start, execute "Setup.exe" on the CD-ROM.
5Select the model, and click "Install".
•When "stop" is clicked, the plotter driver installation is canceled.

6Click the check box of "Installation of a driver" and click "Next".
When you simultaneously install status monitor, click the check box of "Installation of a status monitor".
•It is possible to install the status monitor alone after installing the plotter driver.

Click "Agree".

a.When the plotter driver is installed for the first time:
Proceed to step 9.
b.When the plotter driver was installed in the past:
Proceed to step 10.
9Set the following items and click "Setting".
a.Port name:
Any names are entered.
b.2nd or more times:
The IP address set for the plotter is entered.
•Refer to "Network setup menu" for the IP address setting for the plotter.

•Proceed to step 11.
10The output ports installed in the past are displayed in the output port list.
a.When using the output port installed in the past, select the output port from the output port list and click "OK".

3.6.3 Installing the plotter driver (for USB connection)

•USB connection can be used, when your PC's OS is Windows 98, or Windows 2000/XP.
1Turn ON your PC.
2Ensure that your PC boots up correctly, and insert the CD-ROM on which "Windows plotter driver" is written into the CD-ROM drive on your PC.
•Installer starts.
3Select the model, and click "Install".
•When "stop" is clicked, the plotter driver installation is canceled.

4Click the check box of "Installation of a driver" and click "Next".

11Insert the CD-ROM on which "Windows plotter driver" is written into the CD-ROM drive of your PC.
•"Found New Hardware Wizard" starts.
12Click "Next".

13Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)", and click "Next".
•Install the plotter driver as shown in the procedure, even if the display shows "Unknown device".

15When the driver file is searched, the proper driver file is detected for each OS or model.

When the proper driver file is not detected, click the check box of "Install another driver" and click "Next".

When the message "Digital Signature Not Found" is displayed during installation, click "Yes" and the installation continues.

3.6.4 Installing the status monitor

1Turn ON the power of the plotter.
2Turn ON your PC.
3Ensure that your PC boots up correctly, and insert the CD-ROM on which "Windows plotter driver" is written into the CD-ROM drive on your PC.
•Installer starts.
4Select the model, and click "Install".
•When "stop" is clicked, the status monitor installation is canceled.

3.6.5 Uninstalling the software

•The plotter driver and status monitor are deleted if the software is uninstalled.
When printing after uninstalled, install the plotter driver again.

2Ensure that your PC boots up correctly, and insert the CD-ROM on which "Windows plotter driver" is written into the CD-ROM drive on your PC.
•Installer starts.
3Select the model, and click "Uninstall".
•When "stop" is clicked, the software uninstallation is cancel.
