3.5 Connecting the plotter to PC

The method of the plotter connection to the PC is explained.

3.5.1 System requirements

The followings are the system requirements for your PC to operate the plotter driver of the plotter.

Operating system
Windows 95/98, Windows NT4/2000/XP
CPU
Above Pentium processor 300 MHz (Higher than Pentium III processor 700 MHz is recommended)
Memory (RAM)
128 MB or more is required (512 MB or more is recommended)
Hard disk free space
1 GB or more is required (2 GB or more is recommended)
•The memory capacity varies depending on the application software or the print data type.
•The plotter driver uses the hard disk for working during printing.
•We recommend to use hard disk and memory of size as large as possible.

3.5.2 Selecting cables

The plotter is equipped with network interface and USB interface for connecting with the PC.
Network interface cable and USB cable are required for connecting the PC with the plotter. Prepare them for your PC depending on the objectives.

•For connecting network interface cable, refer to "3.5.3 Connecting network interface cable".
•For connecting USB cable, refer to "3.5.4 Connecting the USB cable".
•For the recommended cable specifications, refer to "7.2 Interface specification".

3.5.3 Connecting network interface cable

The procedure of network interface cable connection is explained.
Connect the plotter to your PC as shown in the following procedure.

1Turn OFF both plotter and PC.
2Insert the network interface cable connector into the network interface connector located on the back of the plotter.

4Connect the other network interface cable connector to your PC.
•Refer to the attached Operation Manual of your PC for the connection to your PC.
•For network setting on the side of the plotter, refer to "4.5.2 Setup menu items".

3.5.4 Connecting the USB cable

The procedure of USB cable connection is explained.
Connect the plotter to your PC as shown in the following procedure.

•Do not connect USB cable before installing the plotter driver. It cannot be correctly installed.

3Connect the other USB cable connector to your PC.
•Refer to the attached Operation Manual of your PC for the connection to your PC.
•USB connection supports Windows 98 and Windows 2000/XP.
•This plotter supports USB 2.0. If the connection is made in the following environments, the speed may decrease to the level measured in USB 1.1.
•When the USB connection is used in Windows 98
•When your PC does not support USB 2.0
•When a USB hub of non USB 2.0 type is used
•When using the plotter with USB connection, install the plotter driver into your PC using the plotter driver provided with the plotter or specified by our company.
